Academic Counseling
The FJH school counselor is available to assist students in planning for their academic future and career development including choosing electives, discussing options for high school endorsement pathways, planning for Honors classes, tutorial schedules, and more.
Personal Counseling
From time to time, students may need extra support with personal concerns, such as social, family, emotional or mental health issues, immediate crisis needs, or substance abuse. The school counselor is available to provide students support in these areas. Referrals to outside agencies including TCHATT, MHMR, HOTCADA, in-patient crisis intervention programs, and religious or private practice counselors are available if additional counseling services are needed.
Screening Tools
Sometimes, in addition to general inquiries into a student’s well-being, school personnel might determine that a student needs some additional observation and perhaps specific services in relation to the student’s mental, emotional, or physical health or well-being.
